Choose a Spot You Can Use Tonight

A place beside your bed is one option. If it will not fit, check the foot of the bed or another clear spot in the same room. Open the crate door and walk the route you will use for a toilet trip. Leave enough room to reach the puppy without stepping over bags or furniture.

This is a room-planning check, not a fixed distance from the mattress. If two adults share the night shift, agree who will listen for the puppy and who will take them out. Put what that person needs for the trip within easy reach.

Introduce the Crate Before Bed
